British International School, Phuket (BISP) produced another successful all round sporting performance at this year’s Hong Kong Challenge hosted by BISP.

BISP teams at U13 and U15 level competed in football and basketball against three international schools from Hong Kong – South Island School, Island School Hong Kong, and King George V School – as well as three additional Phuket schools. View the Flickr album

It was an all-BISP final in the U13 boys football, with BISP Orange and BISP Blue going head to head. After trailing by two goals at halftime, it was BISP Blue who made an impressive comeback to snatch the win 3-2. It was an all-BISP U15 boys final as well, but this time it was BISP Orange who claimed the victory after Ryan’s solo goal.

The U13 girls showed great perseverance, finishing fourth overall, while the U15 team took home silver after a hard-fought final against Thai team, Ban Thung Ka, falling short 2-1.

BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy, Head Coach, Jonathas Candido commented: “The girls train as a squad of mixed ages and sessions focus entirely on technical development, so it was really positive to see how strongly these girls played as two teams and how well they applied their technical skills in a game situation.”

In the basketball competition, the U15 girls won their grade after a 10-point victory over Island School Hong Kong. The U13 girls and U15 boys teams both finished third and the U13 boys team in fourth.

BISP basketball coach, Jamie Blake, said: “The Under 15 girls have continued to grow as a team and have capped off a very successful year finishing in first place.

“Much experience was gained at the games from all the teams that took part. Each team had a focus to get better every game and that’s exactly what happened.”
