On Saturday 18th November, we set off on a superb blue sky morning with 24 boarding students to Chalong Pier, to board a huge, blue and white Sea Bees catamaran sparkling in the sunshine. We stopped 45 minutes off the coast of Phuket to snorkel in a quiet bay off Racha Nai. The intrepid Naiharn boys wasted no time in flinging themselves in and plunging into the sparkly, sun kissed water. The Kamala girls followed and soon got the hang of it, following Prim with her bright pink float that could not be missed! And then the Rawai students with Mr Walby in charge. It was great! After the 40 minute snorkel, the routine “who is the bravest” competition commenced with a vengeance, when the Sea Bees crew opened the gate on the top of the boat. Alisa and Cia led the way, and soon pretty much everyone had flung themselves off the top with varying degrees of skill and finesse! Prim, Alisa and Mr Donovan wowed everyone with their diving skills and there was more than one belly flop (ouch!) in between!
Then we enjoyed a delicious lunch and then the catamaran slowly took off towards the other side of the island for our second snorkel of the day. The water was really clear here, and there were only a handful of other boats. The sun continued to shine, and the snorkelling here was brilliant – so many fish of every colour and variety! Suffice to say, it was difficult to pull all the students out of the water when it was time to leave!A leisurely trip back to the pier on the calm, blue water rounded off the perfect day!
Great trip, great fun! Who says boarding is boring??
