The BISP RPT Tennis Centre recently played host to the Shell UTR Junior Circuit Tennis 10s tournament, which saw more than 100 junior tennis players from across the region compete for international tennis ratings.
The tournament, which took place from 10-12 May, included players aged six to 17. About 30 BISP students took part, with the additional players travelling from within Thailand, as well as Hong Kong and Malaysia.
UTR, which stands for Universal Tennis Rating, is the foremost tennis ranking system used across the world. The system rates all players on a single 16-point scale. BISP also hosted a UTR event back in January.
BISP RPT Tennis Academy Head Coach, Adam Daley, said the tournament was a great success and all the participants showed great endurance and focus over the three-day competition.
“I was particularly impressed with how some of our very young athletes competed,” he said. “Our team showed great sportsmanship and had some fantastic achievements, performances and results.
“BISP would like to thank everyone who took part, and special thanks goes to Brugera-Hong Kong Tennis Academy for bringing some of their young talent across for friendly match play in the days preceding the tournament.”
