The British International School, Phuket (BISP) High Performance triathlon team has finished in third place in the Inter-School Competition of the Singapore MetaSprint Series for 2019.

Following on from the second event in March, the final race of the series – held on Sunday 28 April – was a poignant moment for Year 13 athlete Sam McInnes, as it was her last appearance in BISP colours. She finished in style, securing second place overall in the Women’s 16-19 category.

BISP also secured podium positions in every other category entered, with Oliver Trott and Jayden Lilley placing first and third respectively in the Men’s 16-19 category, closely followed by Jack Heneberry in fourth place. Natalie Hunter and Romeo Perthuis claimed overall silver in the Youth 14-15 (Girls and Boys) age groups.

The Series’ Inter-School competition featured schools as well as universities. BISP Triathlon Academy Head Coach, Zane Castro, said: “We certainly left our mark on this series in 2019, which is most pleasing.

“Not only did the athletes race smart and do well, but from all accounts they displayed excellent sportsmanship throughout the series, and their conduct was a credit to what we are trying to build within our Academy.”
