This past weekend saw two days of racing at the 11th Laguna Phuket International Marathon. The first race of the weekend was the 2k run on Saturday.

Due to some restrictions on registering, BISP Track Club’s younger members were only able to race the 2k. They were able to make the most of it, posting some fast times and great results. Lloyd Vidotto came home with the top prize, with Theo McIntyre tight on his heels. Just missing out on the final podium spot was Nathan lowry in 4th place.

The 10.5k later on in the afternoon also had some strong showings. Notably Callum Pedroni was 7th overall, Sota Maehara was 22nd, and Sarah Vidotto also cracked the top 100 out of over 1400 runners.

Day 2 of racing saw the marathon and half marathon take center stage. The track club had numerous strong showings with over 15 members competing in the half marathon.

Tony Pedroni was the top finisher of the day finishing 31st overall. Annie Pedroni rounded out a great weekend for the family placing 70th overall. Shelly Clowes, Gareth Twist and Secondary teacher Paul Preen rounded out the finishers in the top 200 out of 1700 runners.

Overall it was great experience for the runners who have all taken big steps this year.
