British International School, Phuket (BISP) tennis player James Van Herzeele recently won the Gold medal for Boys 16 & Under at the 4th Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand event of the year held at the Pyramid Sport Centre in Bangkok.
BISP RPT Tennis Academy Head Coach Lee Austrin says, “Another great achievement from James. This competition saw the best of Thailands Under 14 and Under 16 players, and at just age 13 – and half the size of his opponents – James once again shows that with the correct tactics and fighting spirit he can achieve so much.
“This does not really come as a shock to me, as I’m very confident in what James can do on a court and the intensity in which he trains will ensure he continues to progress with the right guidance. This is just a small step on the path to a tennis career and James must now get back to training hard and looking to be able to compete with Europe’s and the world’s best players.
“Its one thing to achieve domestically, but globally is very different. Without taking any credit away from a wonderful achievement, James now needs to set his sights higher and train even harder.
“I have every faith in him and have no doubt you will be hearing about many more achievements in the future. The next two years will be crucial.”
