The BISP U13s/U15s Boys’ Football teams came in 3rd place in the Cruzeiro Academy International Cup from March 29th – April 9th in Brazil.
Both our teams played well, showing good teamwork and organisation on the pitch. The tournament was of a very high standard, and pushed them to the next level. We expect to be back next year and do even better.
BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy Head Coach Jonathas Candido and Goalkeeping Coach Fred Bragaglia, who accompanied the school team, organised a culturally-rich experience that involved living and training at the Cruzeiro football complex, watching a football match at a World Cup standard stadium and visiting Brazil’s third largest city – Belo Horizonte.
The participating High Performance College athletes also spoke highly of their experiences in Brazil.
“Every single player on our team has raised their standards of playing football. We watched and also played against the top clubs in Brazil, which allowed us to better understand the needs in becoming professional football players,” said BISP athlete Kazaho Shibata.
“I had never travelled to South America so this was an incredible experience for me. The tournament really pushed us mentally and physically and brought us closer together as a team,” said BISP athlete Oliver Yun.
“I’m sure all the players will have fond memories of this trip and raise the bar of football at British International School, Phuket,” said Coach Candido.
