BISP’s Golf Academy Head Coach Oliver congratulates his students on their recent successes.
Napat (Toy) Paramacharoenroj – runner up in the 21st Faldo Series Grand Final at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club, United Arab Emirates.
With very windy conditions it made for some testing conditions for all golfers. Toy started the week well and during the practice round he aced (hole in one) on the 304 yard, 4th hole, par 4. His driver sailed onto the green into the cup for a rare double eagle (albatross). He played some great golf on day one, to finish the day with a 69 (-1). This included an eagle and three birdies with two double bogeys restricting the score to one under. Day two was tough, the windy conditions for the late starters made things challenging, and scores were higher. Toy battled round in 73, which left him 2 behind the leader with one round to go in the U16 division. The final round produced some great golf with Josh Hill from the UK shooting 66, to win by three. Toy pushed him all the way with birdies on 13,14,15 and finished with a 69 (-1) , total score (+1) to claim the runner up spot against a very strong overall field. I was very impressed with Toy this week as he overcame many difficult situations. When challenged under tough conditions he produced some great shots and showed his very strong mental approach. His attitude, sportmanship and competitiveness was first class. He will now prepare hard ready to defend his Asian Faldo series final title in Vietnam in February.
Vanchai (Mark) Luangnitikul – runner up in the TGA National Team Qualifier at the Grand Prix Golf Club
Mark also produced a great result in the TGA national team qualifier at the Grand Prix Golf Club. His impressive -11 par gave him 2nd place and he qualified for the next stage.
Mark’s game has really improved as he experiences playing higher levels of golf. He has matured into a top level player and continues to achieve great results in big events.
