While many people were enjoying their well-earned break, BISP university counsellors Jacqui Brelsford and Dale Ford still had a little work to do.
Jacqui attended the UCAS International Teachers’ and Advisors’ Conference in Manchester, England. This conference bought together university representatives and school counsellors to discuss the best practice in UK admissions. Some of the workshops Jacqui attended were on applying to Oxford and Cambridge, fee status at English and Scottish universities, visa applications for international students and standardised tests.
While at home in the US, Dale hopped over to Cleveland, Ohio to attend the International Association for College Admission Counselling (IACAC) conference. This is the largest of the university counselling conferences, drawing nearly 1,300 representatives from universities, high schools and higher education professionals from all over the world. One area he chose to explore was how to best support our student athletes with recruitment to US Colleges.
Jacqui also managed five university visits while on her holiday in Australia. She was able to tour Monash University, RMIT, the University of Melbourne, the University of Sydney and Blue Mountains Hospitality School. Visiting a campus is so important to finding the best fit for a student. The university counsellors recommend visiting campuses whenever possible.
