The BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy High Performance U14 and U12 boys teams recently took part in the PSS National Tournament, held at Thanyapura. Both teams performed well, especially because it was the first time that they had played competitively this school year.
The U14s played six games over two days and won all six, scoring 31 goals and conceding none. The U12s played seven games, winning four, drawing one, and losing one, scoring 10 goals and conceding five.
After the first couple of games both teams started to get into an effective game pace and understand their positional play and functions on the pitch. The highlight of the first day was the U14s 8-0 victory over Gwyn FC. After playing many hard games both teams finished in second place at the end of the first day.
The second day started with the U12s beating Youth Football Home 2-0, and the U14s putting 10 goals past DTHHSA. After two days of action, the U12 boys finished with a very respectable fourth place, and the U14s finished first.
“It was a fantastic weekend of football and a wonderful learning experience for all our boys involved,” says BISP Cruzeiro Football Academy Head Coach Jonathas Candido.
“We still have a lot of work to do running up to the BISP Soccer Sevens in November, but there is a great potential and hopefully, if the weather behaves itself, we can put on a great performance.”
